Carmel Valley Overview

Bordered on the north by Del Mar and Fairbanks Ranch, on the east by Rancho Penasquitos, to the south by La Jolla and Sorrento Valley, and to the west by Torrey Pines State Reserve and Del Mar, Carmel Valley has become not only a model for fine living, but also has an outstanding location to boot.  Carmel Valley is contained within the 92130 zip code and is a community within the San Diego city limits.

Carmel Valley is a relatively wealthy community within the city limits of San Diego which began development in the mid-1980's.  Hallmarks of the area include very well thought of public schools, new shopping centers, and modern infrastructure which makes every day getting around a pleasure for area residents.

Del Mar Highlands Town Center is located at the very north end of Carmel Valley and is the economic hub of Carmel Valley.  Shopping, a wide selection of restaurants, and a movie theater complex serve area residents.

Though the western portion of Carmel Valley is nearing completion, the east side still has much room to grow.  Nearly 50,000 residents are fortunate to call Carmel Valley home.

Carmel Valley Schools

Carmel Valley shares a number of school districts for area students, all of which are prized for the modern facilities and academic standards.  For the elementary schools, the northern section is part of the Solana Beach School District (K-6). The southern section is managed by the Del Mar Union School District (K-6). The San Dieguito Union School District manages both the middle and high schools.
